There is a ‘BUZZ’ about MBA!

On Thursday 31st MBA celebrated our month end ‘Buzz Club’. Alcohol was consumed, an inordinate amount of food was devoured and generally the team relished the opportunity to unwind – with Battersea Power Station providing the charmingly omnipresent backdrop.

Buzz Club is the brainchild of Kate Baker, Cassie Fitzsimmons, Alex Keech and Maeve McDonald. Every month there is a different activity or experience planned to allow members of the team to socialise and get active. It has been a roaring success for over 2½ years – with activities ranging from a roller disco, bowling, cocktail making, zoo lates, bingo, a visit to the Shard and even an Elvis night.

This month London’s StreetFeast at Battersea Power Station was our Buzz Club destination. It is a night market that brings together the best street food traders and chefs. Also offering ice cold beers, pint sized cocktails and a lethal pina colada slush. If you wanted to conduct your own man v food challenge, this was the place to do it – with a buzzing crowd of working professionals, edgy bearded types with geek glasses and young families.

Le Bun proved a popular choice with delectable beef bourguignon or shredded duck burgers, silencing even the chattiest MBA’ers.  Other options included Randy’s Wing Bar, Spit & Roast, Born & Raised Pizzas, Dip & Flip and Hot Box BBQ. I personally opted for Baba G’s Spicy Tropikal Wrap. It definitely lived up to the name, and was probably intended for braver taste buds than my own. However the refreshingly cool mojito ice lollies that were being enjoyed by many of the team offered a welcome relief.

For those looking for somewhere to relax in the balmy Summer air, under the stars, there was also an open air cinema. StreetFeast has teamed up with Everyman Cinema’s and they are running retro and cult films, from Pulp Fiction to Toy Story. There are comfy bean bags and even cosy pods for couples; it is a destination in itself.

Much like the iconic old power station, which is set to undergo a £8bn refurbishment after summer, MBA is also evolving. As the team grows Buzz Club presents the perfect opportunity for integrating, socialising and generally promoting the ‘get involved’ spirit that is rife within MBA. Let’s hope Kate has her thinking cap on and many more exciting ideas are on the way!
