There were shots all around at the McDonald Butler annual golf day 2014, hosted at Burhill golf club, a day for factor 50; it proved to be a success, thanks to our MBA events team and 42 attendees who made the day what it was.
With prizes to win, including a vintage Porsche Carrera for a hole in one on the 6th hole, the competition was tough (not championship worthy just yet) despite great attempts to win the car (the closest shot being just a few yards away), it remains un-won for yet another year.
With beautiful surroundings and great people we were all too lucky but it is important to remember our focus on the charities we support. The money raised on this particular day is going towards the £10,000 MBA are aiming to raise to fund an ICT classroom for children in Lynedoch and thanks to the generous donations made on the 6th hole for a daunting shot of tequila, vodka, schnapps or Jägermeister we managed to raise £500 towards this amount.
With attendees including IBM, Zebra, Motorola, Arcadia and many others, the game was on. Martin Fazal, Andrew Donn, Lee McCready and MBA’s own James Houselander were the winning team with 83 points, as James was only in his first week at
MBA this was quite impressive (watch out Mike!). The overall winner was William Dickinson with 36 points which were well deserved. However they couldn’t have survived the day without Vanessa and Julie from the MBA team carting around drinks on a golf-buggy all day, they managed stay in one piece despite a bumpy ride. In spite of hot vodka shots being served on the 6th hole it was a great day and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves and you will join us in the sun next year!
